Jackson County settles its building defect suit

Jackson County reached a $1.5 million settlement with several companies over complaints of defects at the Fort Osage Education Center.
The center, part of an exhibit on a historic fort on the Missouri River, opened in 2007. The county said design and construction defects left the building with structural problems.
