Publisher Gard named to Humanities Council
Gov. Jay Nixon named S. Richard Gard Jr., president and publisher of Missouri Lawyers Media, to the Missouri Humanities Council.
Gard’s term started Wednesday. Board members typically serve three-year terms.
The St. Louis-based council, a nonprofit affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities, supports programs to promote education about and discussion of history, literature, archeology and other topics. The organization is funded by the state, the endowment and private donations. The council had $1.36 million in revenue in the fiscal year that ended in Oct. 2010, according to its latest available filing with the Internal Revenue Service.
Gard, an attorney, has headed up Missouri Lawyers Media since 2005. Missouri Lawyers’ eight publications include Missouri Lawyers Weekly and the St. Louis and Kansas City Daily Records.
