Law firm news

The Polsinelli Shughart law firm is donating $100,000 in cash and legal services to a program that supports entrepreneurs in the St. Louis area, the firm announced today.

Polsinelli will contribute to the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Washington University in St. Louis during a four-year period beginning this year.

Polsinelli Shughart lawyers will work with entrepreneurs for legal issues, said Ken Harrington, managing director of the center. These issues could range from protecting companies’ names and ideas, to ensuring contracts and corporate matters are in order, according a firm press release.

Participants in annual competitions sponsored by the Skandalaris Center have access to resources such as venture capital and business development opportunities. The center funds and coordinates entrepreneurship courses and programs that span across all schools, degrees and disciplines.

Harrington said other firms have supported the center for judging and mentoring, but Polsinelli is the only law firm donating to the center at this time, with the goal of improving the start-up environment in the region.
