Welcome to the 2009 Directory of Missouri In-House Counsel

As with the industry, you’ll find quite a bit of change in our directory this year. As in-house counsel and their companies respond to the difficult economic times, you’ll find many departments being downsized, attorneys taking on new titles and mergers causing wholesale changes for many large companies throughout the state.

Given the economy, we have added an article with in-house attorneys talking about how they are dealing budget cuts. The advice is helpful for both corporate counsel and private practice attorneys alike.

Steven Crawford, general counsel for Prime inc., speaks for many in-house counsel when he notes how his company is approaching using outside counsel: “We’re not asking for outside counsel to drop their rates by 5 or 10 percent. We’re looking for firms who will work harder, smarter and faster. That saves more money in the long run.”

We’ve also added this year our popular list of the top 50 law firms in the state, reprinted from our special 2008 Money 20 magazine, our exclusive financial rankings of Missouri law firms. The top 50 list not only tells you who ranks where, but breaks down each of the firms by headcount of equity, non-equity, of counsel, support staff and in-state versus out-of-state attorneys.

But the directory’s main purpose, as always, is to provide you with the most comprehensive listing of Missouri’s in-house attorneys. You’ll find them listed by industry, by company, by individual and by location.
