Nixon to enter office with ole’ fashioned picnic

If you've ever wanted to share your world famous brownies or family recipe apple pies with the governor of Missouri, you'll get your chance Jan. 12. Governor-elect Jay Nixon has laid out his inauguration day activities in Jefferson City, among them a potluck dinner open to the public, who are encouraged to supply the desserts. Nixon's campaign committee is providing hamburgers and other traditional picnic fare. The day is capped with the Inaugural Ball at 8 p.m. in the Rotunda of the state Capitol building. Nixon has appointed Kathleen Daughety to serve as inaugural coordinator, and Jack Cardetti will serve as Nixon's spokesman. Read on for the day's schedule.
