Mayor, paper praises Weber

MO Lawyers Media Staff//February 16, 2009

Our city’s attorney, Randy Weber, is one of 29,000 members of the Missouri Bar Association. Only 15 of those attorneys were finalists for the 2008 Lawyer of the Year award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly (a sister paper of Business Record Monday) and I’m proud to say Randy was recognized as one of those top lawyers in the state of Missouri. He was singled out for his role in the successful completion of the Lakeside 370 project and land transaction.

It’s wonderful to see him receive this recognition from his peers. The story about Randy in Missouri Lawyers Weekly quoted James N. Foster Jr. describing him as a “lawyer’s lawyer” and noted his tenacity with the Lakeside 370 project.

Randy has weathered many storms as our attorney, particularly during the Lakeside 370 project. Though it all he has been the very definition of professionalism, honor and respect. Now, his peers statewide are echoing what we’ve known all along-he truly is one of the top lawyers in Missouri.

His colleagues at Hazelwood and Weber are among the best. The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce recently named Keith Hazelwood its Citizen of the Years, and he was named one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2007. Scott Williams (of the firm) has been recognized for his role in a major case before the Missouri Supreme Court.

It’s really great when the good guys and gals are singled out for doing what’s right. Innuendo and personal attacks are cheap tactics that I know will never go completely away. Doing the right thing, taking the high road and on that rare occasion receiving the recognition for doing a good job-that’s priceless.
