The next judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals might not be white.
Information the Appellate Judicial Commission released Friday said no minority candidates applied for the vacancy created when Judge Booker T. Shaw left the bench. This afternoon the commission corrected itself and said one minority applied for the vacancy.
Shaw was one of three black judges on the St. Louis-based court.
Also, two of the candidates are from outside the St. Louis metropolitan area, not just one as the commission reported earlier. The rest of the demographic information remained the same. Click here to read the prior post.
The commission is meeting today at 4:45 p.m. at the Missouri Court of Appeals to choose a panel of three nominees to submit to Gov. Jay Nixon.
