A couple graduates of the St. Louis Circuit Court’s drug court program are gearing up to share their stories with a wider audience next month.
Presiding Judge David Dowd reports that House Speaker Ron Richard invited two people who just completed the city circuit court’s program to address the Missouri House of Representatives in January.
Richard, a Joplin Republican, attended a drug court graduation in St. Louis recently and was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. At graduation, people who were sent to the drug court program and successfully completed it also were invited to talk about their experiences.
Dowd says today that the ceremony went well, and the court’s program made such an impression on the legislative leader that he asked two graduates to come tell their stories to the full Missouri House in Jefferson City.
The legislative session resumes on Jan. 6.
