Blunt sworn in as Missouri’s new senator

Roy Blunt, a Republican from Springfield, is now a United States senator.

The longtime congressman was officially sworn into Congress’ Upper Chamber Wednesday by Vice President Joe Biden. He took the oath along with three other newly-elected lawmakers.

Soon afterward the ceremony, Blunt’s press office released an audio statement reacting to his ascension to the Senate:

Blunt replaces Kit Bond, a Republican who decided not to seek another term.
