John Orbe joined Bryan Cave’s St. Louis office. He will practice with the transactions, corporate finance and technology, entrepreneurial and commercial practice groups. He received his law degree from Saint Louis University in 2010. Orbe was a summer associate with the firm in 2009.

Denise Fields has joined the Kansas City office of labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips as an associate. Before joining the firm, Fields was a member of the labor and employment and commercial litigation practice groups at Bryan Cave.

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri hosted the 7th Annual Heschel-King Awards Celebration of Jews United for Justice on May 15. Missouri Supreme Court Judge Richard Teitelman and former Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White were the two recipients of this year’s awards. The award honors individuals form the St. Louis Jewish and African-American communities who work together for civil rights in the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel.

 Jeffrey Kass joined Polsinelli Shughart as a shareholder in the firm’s trial department. He practices in the firm’s offices in St. Louis and Denver. He will focus on intellectual property and technology litigation. Kass previously practiced law at Gallop, Johnson & Neuman.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness honored Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard shareholder Stephen Strum and his wife, Angela Strum, a community outreach leader, on May 11 at the St. Louis Dining in the Dark event. The foundation is a national nonprofit aiming to drive sight-saving research.

Four lawyers joined Stinson Morrison Hecker: Charles “Clary” Redd, Scott Filmore, Traci Peterson and Michael Crowley. In St. Louis, Redd, formerly a vice chairman of SNR Denton’s trusts and estates practice, joins as a partner in Stinson’s tax, trust and estate division. Filmore, also from SNR Denton and now in Stinson’s estate practice, is joining the firm’s St. Louis office as of counsel. Peterson and Crowley are joining Stinson’s Kansas City office. Crowley, formerly with Bryan Cave, joins as a litigation associate, and Peterson, previously at Kansas City firm Warden Grier, will be of counsel in the firm’s banking and financial services division.
