Staff Report//September 9, 2013
PRACTICE AREAS: Commercial litigation, health care
LAW SCHOOL: University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? Having the opportunity to work on a case from its initial filing, through lengthy discovery, through the longest civil jury trial in the Western District of Texas, and getting a successful jury verdict for our client in the jury trial and then on appeal to the Fifth Circuit. I worked on the case for four years.
WHO IS YOUR LEGAL HERO? My father, who was the dean at the University of Missouri law school from when I was in sixth grade through my graduation from law school. He is the reason I became a lawyer. When I was really little and he was a professor, I would play in his office with his toy cars that he used to teach torts.
WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST FEAR? Elevators (I was trapped in the elevator in our office building for two hours last year).
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? Run. I ran my first marathon in January 2013.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG LAWYERS? Work hard, and the little details really count and add up to success. … And never be late for court.
