The Missouri Supreme Court pushed back to March 12 a special election to fill a vacancy on the 22nd Circuit Judicial Commission left by the death of former judge Michael Calvin.

Chief Justice Mary Russell set the new date in a Jan. 5 order, pushing back the election from Feb. 6.

The five-member commission selects nominees to send to the governor for St. Louis Circuit Court bench vacancies. Missouri Bar members who live in the circuit and are in good standing or inactive are eligible to vote on candidates for the two seats held by attorneys on the commission. The new commissioner will serve a term set to end Dec. 31, 2017.

The commission this week selected candidates for one judicial vacancy. Commission members are Chair Angela Quigless, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District; attorney Steven Groves; and lay members Rita Burlison and Tiffany Mapp Franklin.
