Law School: Washington University
Mark Goodman said that if he hadn’t pursued a legal career, he’d have become a teacher.
Those who know him might say he did both. Goodman is a well-respected mentor at the firm he helped to found.
“Mark approaches firm policy, finance and culture issues with the same sophistication with which he analyzes our clients’ legal issues,” writes his nominator. “Mark is a mentor and guide for all of our attorneys, at all stages. He is truly the ‘godfather’ of our firm and, in my opinion, one of the primary reasons for its success.”
Goodman also helps non-attorneys to succeed. In addition to staying connected with other members of the business community, he also mentored students in the St. Louis Public Schools through Urban Future, where he joined the board after being named “Mentor of the Year.”
“My respect for Mark is immense and my gratitude endless,” writes his nominator. “I will never be able to give Mark a commensurate gift in return. However, I am confident that if I asked him how I could possibly try, he would simply ask me to ‘pay it forward’ by mentoring others.”
What is your most important work at your organization?
Providing quality legal assistance to our clients and assisting others to do the same.
What is your biggest accomplishment this year?
I can’t point to one. Continuing to be engaged in the practice and successful collaboration with other lawyers and support staff in the firm.
What has been your favorite moment as an attorney?
I do not have one “favorite” but believe whenever I have accomplished life-changing results…. that has been rewarding.
