As a patent attorney for Harness Dickey, Elisabeth Koral relies not only on her legal expertise, but her background in engineering.
Koral earned her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004, before attending the Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 2007.
Koral began her legal career at Dentons, preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the United States and internationally. She joined Harness Dickey in 2010, working initially as a contract attorney for Sigma-Aldrich, where she developed and implemented process improvements within the company’s license agreements.
Koral used the knowledge she gained in the role to bolster her current practice, giving her the ability to anticipate her client’s needs and the most profitable areas for commercial development. Other attorneys use her as a “go-to” resource for the area of Patent Term Adjustments, fellow Harness Dickey attorney Leanne Rakers said in her nomination.
Koral also is spearheading the development of a new industry group within the firm. Her work in the effort and her unique academic background led Harness Dickey’s leadership team to elect Koral to join them as principal in the firm.
“This special honor is usually only granted to attorneys who are more advanced in their careers, but through hard work and dedication, Elisabeth was able to amass the experience needed and become Principal ahead of schedule,” Rakers said.
