8 seek judgeship in Clay County

The 7th Circuit Judicial Commission will meet Dec. 6 to select finalists from among eight applicants for an impending vacancy on the Clay County Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge Larry D. Harman is expected to retire effective Dec. 16. Following public interviews, the commission will select three finalists. Gov. Mike Parson will have 60 days to make the appointment.

According to the commission, three of the applicants are women, and three are minorities. All but one works in the public sector. The average age of the applicants is 48.5 years.

The applicants are current Associate Circuit Judges Louis Angles, David P. Chamberlain, Timothy J. Flook and Karen L. Krauser; and attorneys Angela M. Atkinson, Sophia R. Bond, Shannon J. Ryser and Michael S. Shipley.

Interviews will take place beginning at 9 a.m. at the Clay County Courthouse, 11 S. Water St., Liberty.
