nathansonJay Nathanson puts his experience in government to work for clients. He worked briefly for the Internal Revenue Service and for several years as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division, where he was named an Outstanding Trial Attorney in 1981.

An officer of Greensfelder, Nathanson is part of the firm’s business services group and handles matters ranging from the tax implications of large mergers and acquisitions to representing clients in audits or appeals.

He is a part of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation and is a former vice chair of The Missouri Bar’s Taxation Law Committee. He also is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and served for several years on the board of directors of the Mid-America Tax Conference.

Nathanson earned his law degree in 1978 from the University of Miami. He is an adjunct faculty member in the LL.M. taxation program at Washington University School of Law and frequently writes and lectures on taxation topics for a variety of professional organizations.
