Paralegal: Managing Paralegal, Langdon & Emison
Alesia Emison leads a team of legal assistants and helps to hire and train new employees while continuing to work a full caseload. She has had a hand in hiring 31 current employees, many of whom have seen career advancements.
“I believe that office culture is very important, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to not only enrich the lives of our clients, but also enhance the culture of our law firm,” she said.
Emison joined Langdon & Emison in 2005 as a legal assistant and became a paralegal in 2011 while also earning her MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2012.
“Her upbeat attitude is a plus around the office, and children in particular always ask about her either at firm functions or on visits to our office in Lexington,” her nominator wrote.
What led you to choose a career in the legal field?
I sought a career that provides opportunity to connect with people, build relationships, and grow personally. The legal field allows me to provide for the greater good.
What is the best part of your job?
Every day I get to work with exceptionally smart, kind, and compassionate people who all work toward the same common goal — making a difference in the lives of injured people and their families.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Use your resources. Surround yourself with people who are much smarter than you.
What is something that would surprise people about you?
In high school I was very interested in engineering, so much so that I joined our school’s Moonbuggy/Engineering team. We placed first back-to-back years in NASA’s Annual “Great Moonbuggy Race.”
