Lisa Baird keeps Lauri Laughland’s law office in Grandview running smoothly.

She performs the numerous tasks necessary to a well-functioning law office, from answering phones to updating the schedule to ordering supplies.

Baird completely updated the practice’s billing system, ensuring that statements go out in a timely manner and collection of payments is current.

Laughland said that when Baird came on board, she “quickly started getting things done in the office that had been put on the back burner.”

“I can give Lisa a project to do and she will figure it out — even if it is something she has never done before,” she said.

What led you to choose a career in the legal field?

I have learned so much working in this field. There is always something new and exciting to learn. Seeing our clients happy and relieved with the outcome of their cases is very rewarding.

What is the best part of your job?

The people I work with. Lauri Laughland is the best employer I have ever worked for. Velinda Hammock has been a great addition to our team. Janet Lawrence-Coleman is always there to assist me in any way she can. I know I can count on everyone in our office. We are a small office but we all work well together.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Follow your instincts. Realize that you have done your best no matter.

What is something that would surprise people about you?

I am an introvert at heart. I am not one to start getting to know people I don’t know. I am shy and reserved.
