Seyferth Blumenthal & Harris, Kansas City
Kim Jones earned her law degree from the University of Kansas in 1994 and joined Seyferth Blumenthal & Harris from Husch Blackwell’s employment practice in 2012.
Four years later, she took over as its managing partner while maintaining an active trial schedule and counseling clients on how to prevent employment problems before they start.
Her wins include two trials just months apart in 2014 on claims from two longtime Jackson County prosecutors who alleged they’d been fired to make way for younger hires. Juries in both cases returned defense verdicts, vindicating the county’s employment decisions and avoiding $3 million in requested damages.
Her community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Women’s Employment Network, a Kansas City-based organization that helps women achieve economic independence through employment.
She also works with the Mid-America Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and previously served on the Kansas City steering committee for the Human Rights Campaign.
