Joseph Cordell has dedicated his legal career to representing fathers, whether they are going through a divorce, seeking child custody or trying to resolve paternity matters.
He and his wife, Yvonne, started the firm in 1990, shortly after he earned his law degree in 1989 from the University of Texas. The firm today focuses solely on family law and has more than 200 attorneys in more than 100 offices nationwide and in the United Kingdom. In 2018, he established Cordell Planning Partners, an elder law firm.
Cordell also is a CPA and holds master of laws degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where he is an adjunct faculty member. He is a former president of the American Academy of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants and was named president of the group’s Missouri chapter in 2017.
Missouri Lawyers Media honored him as part of the ICON Awards in 2019.
