The POWER List: Thomas B. Weaver

Armstrong Teasdale, St. Louis

Thomas B. WeaverTom Weaver’s wins in court make waves.

In 2020, Weaver helped to obtain an Eastern District ruling that slashed just over half of a $4.69 billion verdict against Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary.

In 2019, Weaver secured a Missouri Supreme Court ruling that impacted mass torts with out-of-state plaintiffs in St. Louis. Missouri Lawyers Media honored Weaver as well as fellow POWER List honoree Susan Ford Robertson for their work as 2020 Lawyers of the Year. In the case, the court ruled that plaintiffs can’t use the state’s joinder rules to establish venue where it otherwise wouldn’t exist.

Weaver is a fellow in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and previously served on its board of directors. In 2007, he was president of the Eighth Circuit Bar Association.

Weaver earned his law degree from Saint Louis University in 1978 and clerked for Judge James Reinhard of the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District.

He went on to join his current firm a year later, where he has since become partner and leads its appellate practice.
