Jay Nathanson is part of Greensfelder’s business services group, where he handles matters ranging from the tax implications of large mergers and acquisitions to representing clients in audits or appeals.
His expertise comes from both his long experience in private practice as well as his time serving in government. He worked briefly for the Internal Revenue Service and for several years as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division, where he was named an Outstanding Trial Attorney in 1981.
Nathanson is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and served for several years on the board of directors of the Mid-America Tax Conference. He also is a member of the American Bar Association’s taxation section and is a former vice chair of The Missouri Bar’s Taxation Law Committee.
Nathanson is an adjunct faculty member at Washington University School of Law in the LL.M. taxation program and frequently writes and lectures on taxation topics for a variety of professional organizations.
He earned his law degree in 1978 from the University of Miami.
