Office Manager: Office Manager and Legal Assistant, Roberts, Wooten & Zimmer
Connie D. Nipper was able to step into an additional role as office manager with little training after Roberts, Wooten & Zimmer became independent in 2011.
Nipper said calculations have always come naturally to her and are a requirement for the role. She balances her duties as office manager, handling payroll, firm and trust accounts and bills while also supervising staff, and as legal assistant to attorney Kevin Roberts. He first hired her in her 20s as his assistant, and she’s worked by his side since then.
Nipper knew her career path early on. In a high school business class where students selected a job to practice, she chose to be a legal secretary.
“I was hooked,” Nipper said.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I do not know if it is advice so to speak or merely support but my husband has constantly been my biggest fan and has been there always telling me I can do whatever I set my mind to. He has been my greatest advocate and has always offered encouragement.
What is something that would surprise people about you?
I am an open book. What you see is what you get.
