Information Technology: Help Desk Analyst, Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale
Sean Eklund provides day-to-day support for Greensfelder’s technical needs, ranging from installing software to building new machines for the firm’s users.
His nominator described him as “one of those individuals who is constantly working behind the scenes to ensure everything is working smoothly and for the best outcome.”
“His work impacts everyone at the firm,” the nominator said.
Eklund has been integral to several office moves, including the renovation of the St. Louis office in 2020 — a move that coincided with the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. A more recent move required him to work throughout the weekend to make sure new workstations were ready for use by Monday morning.
He recently helped complete a firm-wide rollout of machines configured for each of the more than 200 employees of the firm.
“It took me over six months and required quite a bit of coordination, but I got each user’s machine setup and configured to their specifications myself,” he said.
What is the best part of your job?
I think the best part of my job is the problem-solving aspect. It doesn’t ever get too monotonous because there’s always something different to figure out.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To focus on my interests when looking at jobs. That was why I moved into an IT position when I saw an available opening. I’ve been working with computers my entire life, so it seemed like a good fit.
What is something that would surprise people about you?
While IT may be considered a field for nerds, so to speak, I’m actually a big believer in physical training and trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over four years.
