Gov. Mike Parson has named two former judges to the Missouri Public Defender Commission.

Gloria Clark Reno, a former St. Louis County circuit judge, and Roy Richter, formerly of the Court of Appeals Eastern District, were named to six-year terms on the seven-member commission, which is the governing body of the Missouri State Public Defender System.

Reno served on the St. Louis County court from 2002 to 2009 as an associate circuit judge and from 2009 to 2020 as a circuit judge, including two years as the circuit’s presiding judge. Prior to joining the bench, she served as a municipal judge in Northwoods and was an assistant public defender and trail team leader in St. Louis.

Richter served on the Eastern District from 2006 to 2020, including two years as its chief judge. He began his career as the Montgomery County prosecutor and became an associate circuit judge in that county in 1979.
