Husch Blackwell, St. Louis
JoAnn Sandifer leads Husch Blackwell’s national appellate group while honing her focus on St. Louis-area companies, municipalities and civic groups.
In an eight-year case over the assessment of property values, Sandifer represented Illinois’ Sny Island Levee Drainage District. Sandifer guided the district to win court approval of how it assesses properties that a later appeal solidified.
Missouri Lawyers Media recognized her for her efforts as an Influential Appellate Advocate in 2017. She also has blocked challenges to financing upgrades at the Scottrade Center and the St. Louis Cardinals stadium on behalf of the St. Louis Land Clearance Authority and the St. Louis Blues owners.
Additionally, she’s been a leading figure in eminent domain cases, including a 2008 Missouri Supreme Court ruling that permitted a dental office to be condemned for redevelopment.
She also represented a defendant hospital in 2010 that was caught up in a series of high court cases that determined when a fired at-will employee can sue for wrongful discharge.
Sandifer earned her law degree from Saint Louis University in 1988.
