Brian Malkmus has consistently racked up some of the state’s top defense wins in medical malpractice cases.
In 2020, Malkmus represented a doctor who used a bone-growth product during surgery on a patient, leading to complications. Missouri Lawyers Media rated his victory in the case as the fifth-place defense win of the year. (The same year, he also had the fourth highest defense victory in a fatal highway crash.)
He was at it again earlier this year, winning on behalf of a Clay County hospital that faced a wrongful death lawsuit after a man with acute pancreatitis died in their care. The case featured nearly $1.8 million in alleged damages.
Malkmus earned his law degree in 1993 from the University of Arkansas. He is the founder of Malkmus Law Firm in Springfield and was honored as a Law Firm Leader at the 2019 Missouri Lawyers Awards. He also is a fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers.
