A Kansas City contractor injured in a 2020 motor vehicle collision in Eudora, Kansas while helping deliver appliances settled a claim against the company he was working with and its driver for $1 million, according to his attorneys.
The collision occurred when box-truck driver London McBride of Kansas City, 27, an employee of KG Transportation of Kansas City, Kansas, ran a stop sign on eastbound County Road 460 and collided with a tractor trailer traveling southbound on County Road 1061, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report provided by plaintiff’s attorney Charles R.C. Regan.
Passenger Steven Mario Gates, 35, an independent contractor, was ejected from the truck and suffered multiple fractures, bulging discs in his spine and a severe concussion, as well as an injury to his right wrist and fractured ribs, Regan said. The collision occurred on Dec. 28, 2020, at 1:20 p.m.
Gates reached a settlement with KG Transportation’s insurer in October 2022, records provided by Regan show, for the company’s policy limits. An attorney representing the company did not respond to a request for comment.
