Staff Report//September 7, 2023
Where a defendant challenged her conviction for charges that included child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, the state elicited sufficient evidence to find that the defendant’s failure to provide adequate medical care to a child with suicidal thoughts created an actual, substantial risk to the victim’s life, body or health, and the trial court did not abuse its discretion by overruling her objection to the state’s closing argument in which she argued that the prosecutor was attacking her personally for her belief in the Bible because the point was to highlight the inconsistencies in her testimony.
Judgment is affirmed.
