A woman who suffered a fractured wrist in a May 12, 2022, accident settled three claims for a total of $160,000, according to her attorney.
Stephen Gerring of Gerring Injury Law said his client had plates and screws inserted shortly after the accident. Her recovery proved elusive, as months of physical therapy and injections failed to resolve swelling in her dominant hand.
She had deQuervain’s Tenosynovitis tendon release surgery performed in February 2023. When this failed to provide relief, she had surgery to remove the plates and screws, followed by more physical therapy.
Gerring said a $50,000 settlement was obtained in 2022 with a third party involved in the accident. State Farm contested her underinsured motorist claim. Gerring said the additional surgeries helped to show permanency of the wrist injury without the need for an expert to prove future damages, leading to an additional $100,000. She also received $10,000 in medical payments.
