Managing partner, Kansas City

Burke David Robinson is a Kansas City attorney with more than 21 years of focused experience in construction law litigation. Robinson represents commercial contractors, suppliers, condominium homeowners’ associations, developers, owners and sureties in construction defect matters, payment and delay claims, and insurance coverage disputes — often involving 10 to 20 parties.

Since 2009, he has served as local counsel for Missouri and Kansas through National Lien and Bond. Robinson said the nature of the work itself drew him to the field: “Complex, high stakes litigation, but no personal injuries. And the clients are a lot of fun to work for.”

\He regularly speaks at CLEs for engineers, architects and contractors on topics including construction contracting, risk management and mechanics liens. Robinson noted that arbitration is becoming the primary means of dispute resolution in construction law — a shift he anticipates will continue in the coming year. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.
