Demographic information released for St. Louis County judicial vacancy

The announced on May 22 the demographic information for candidates vying for an vacancy in .

The vacancy was created by Joseph L. Green’s resignation after Green accepted a role as an assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Among the 10 applicants for the position, two are women and eight are men. None of the candidates reported being minorities, and their average age is 44.5 years-old, according to the commission.

Six candidates work in the private sector and four are employed in the public sector, the commission reported.

All 10 applicants will be interviewed and they are:

William J. Halaz

Susan E. Jostes

Christopher J. Klaverkamp

Curtis J. Niewald

Gregory N. Smith

Thomas D. Smith

Joseph A. Terry

James C. Thomeczek

Marie F. Weisenberger

Interviews will be open to the public and are expected to take place on June 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Louis County Court Building.
