Robert Cockerham has built a four-decade career that traces the full arc of modern legal practice — from pencil and paper in law school to a Dictaphone as a staff attorney at the Court of Appeals, through private practice and into today’s world of AI, digital resources and cloud-based systems. He has also watched the profession embrace greater diversity, seeing it as a source of unique challenges and opportunities for lawyers to navigate.
Cockerham leads through servant leadership first and transformational leadership second — placing others’ needs first to build loyalty and trust, while cultivating the motivation and morale that drive honest communication and lasting commitment. He said, “Servant leadership comes first as it fosters loyalty and trust among my colleagues.”
He takes the greatest pride in his work helping those in need — children with special needs in particular — and also advises young attorneys to protect their reputations, act with integrity, learn the law well and always put their clients first.
