A settlement in a class action lawsuit against Enterprise Rent-A-Car that was derided by objectors was deemed good enough by St. Louis County Circuit Judge Maura B. McShane. The settlement is valued at $13 million, said Fernando Bermudez, of Green Jacobson in Clayton.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. and an affiliate of Maritz, Wolff & Co. in Clayton have dismissed a lawsuit involving the alleged underperformance of the Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis (pictured here).
As first reported by Missouri Lawyers Media, parent company Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. sued the Maritz Wolff affiliate in October, claiming it was trying to cancel the Carondelet Plaza hotel’s 65-year operating agreement 43 years early because of underperformance.
After denying a plaintiff attorney’s request for nearly $14,500 in attorney’s fees, St. Louis County Circuit Judge John Ross lifted an injunction and a restraining order on Monday in a case involving the troubled Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District.Read More »

Two men who were molested as boys by former assistant U.S. Attorney Eric T. Tolen (pictured left) have received a more than $30 million judgment following a St. Louis County Circuit Court bench trial. Tolen was convicted in September 2008 on multiple statutory sodomy counts of five minor boys, including the plaintiffs, “C.W.” and “J.B.” Tolen was sentenced to 65 years in prison.Read More »
