{"id":551,"date":"2019-11-12T12:00:33","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T18:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/molawyersmedia.com\/missouriinhouse\/?p=551"},"modified":"2019-11-13T11:04:01","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T17:04:01","slug":"reachel-beichley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/molawyersmedia.com\/missouriinhouse\/2019\/11\/12\/reachel-beichley\/","title":{"rendered":"Reachel Beichley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PUBLIC COMPANY<br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: windowtext\">Vice President and General Counsel,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: windowtext\">MRIGlobal<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reachel Beichley was so sure she wanted to be a lawyer that she memorialized that goal in one of her high school yearbooks.<\/p>\n<p>After earning a bachelor\u2019s degree in social studies and education from William Woods University, she earned a law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1997. She clerked for the late Stanley A. Grimm, then a judge with the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District, before joining what is now Husch Blackwell. As an associate with that firm, she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, as well as technology and intellectual property licensing arrangements.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-552\" src=\"http:\/\/molawyersmedia.com\/missouriinhouse\/files\/2019\/11\/Reachel-Beichley-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"Reachel Beichley\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>In 2004, she became corporate counsel at Kansas City-based MRIGlobal, which performs contract scientific and engineering research for government and industry.\u00a0She was promoted to senior counsel in 2008, general counsel in 2012 and vice president of human resources in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Beichley now specializes in corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, technology and intellectual property licensing, organizational development, and risk and strategic management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReachel has served the company and its board well for many years, and she is the principal responsible party for ensuring all legal issues for this large government-contract-focused, scientific-research organization are properly managed,\u201d her nominator wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Beichley said the aspect she enjoys most about her work at MRIGlobal is the not-for-profit company\u2019s mission: bettering humankind through engineering and research in national security and defense, as well as life sciences, energy and the environment, agriculture, food safety and other areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI work with and for really great people. I have a terrific team who consistently exceeds expectations.\u00a0 We call ourselves mission support, and we live it because we believe in the mission.\u00a0 I am lucky to work at such a great organization,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Beichley recalls attending a retirement party for an MRIGlobal executive about six months after she joined the company. At the party, the executive stood up and expressed how proud he was to have been part of the company and its everyday work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was at that time I knew found a really great place to work because the people here are about the mission,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not about maximizing profits. It\u2019s not about what the shareholders [want]. . . . It\u2019s about what\u2019s best for our country, our nation, our world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking back on her 22-year legal career, Beichley said she would tell younger lawyers to take advantage of any opportunity that may come about \u2014 even if it\u2019s not something that initially interests them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t have gotten here if I had not been open to trying different things and doing things that people asked me to that I didn\u2019t think I wanted to do. If you\u2019re open and try it, you may find you really like it,\u201d she said. \u201cOr you may not, and that\u2019s OK, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also gave a nod to those who helped her along in her own career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a strong believer in mentors, and I was lucky to have been associated with such very good mentors who assisted in my professional development \u2014 Steve Carman and Wade Kerrigan of Husch Blackwell, and my CEO, Tom Sack,\u201d Beichley said.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of work, Beichley serves on the board of directors for the Youth Symphony of Kansas City and previously was a board member with Girls on the Run.
