Attorney admits he stole $325,000 from client trust

A longtime Cape Girardeau attorney and recent partner at The Limbaugh Firm has surrendered his law license and admitted to taking $325,000 from a client trust. Joe T. Buerkle, 66, voluntarily surrendered his license Aug. 6, and, to the shock of some former colleagues and clients, has since moved out of Cape Girardeau, where he had practiced law since 1968. The Missouri Supreme Court disbarred him Aug. 14.
