More firms hire full-time diversity managers

When Carr answers surveys from business clients of Greensfelder, she sees one question over and over again. "What are you doing to increase diversity at your law firm?" Clients have fired that question at large Missouri law firms for years. Now the firms can fire back an answer: They're hiring full-time diversity coordinators, creating pipeline programs and expanding recruitment of minority attorneys and staff.

Doctors group sue law firm, alleging conflict of interest

Here's a twist: A doctors group is suing a law firm. Cardiothoracic Surgery Associates has filed a legal malpractice lawsuit against the St. Louis firm Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, alleging the firm had a conflict of interest when it was the former general counsel for CSA and then represented a contrary party in the lawsuit. The petition alleges that Greensfelder had breached its fiduciary duty to CSA when it represented SSM Healthcare, St. Louis - using information that it gained as CSA's general counsel against the association. Arnold-based Warren Sign Co. installed the 9-foot-high letters for a 94-foot-long Greensfelder sign last week on the south side of Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale's headquarters at 10 S. Broadway. Baseball fans can see the sign from the new Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis. The law firm, which re-upped its lease in 2006, had been negotiating since for rights to put up the sign.
