Court formally rules against Fletcher

The parties in Michael Fletcher’s ill-fated attempt to remain on the Kansas City Council ballot worked around the clock to appeal the case. The Missouri Court of Appeals Western District could do no less.

The court issued a 21-page opinion this morning explaining the reasoning behind its rare ruling from the bench yesterday in a challenge to Fletcher’s Missouri residency.

Disqualified candidate comes in second

A former lawyer seeking a City Council seat in Kansas City would have advanced to April’s general election if a judge hadn’t disqualified him from Tuesday’s primary, according to contest results.
