Monday, the first day the St. Louis County Courts building reopened, was not without its hiccups. Attorneys who showed up first thing in the morning were turned away. Many were not aware that hearings and conferences were canceled. Later in the day, attorneys were allowed to enter the building. The court was operating on a semi-emergency schedule with staff and judges in the building but with all dockets canceled because of the generator fire that closed the complex all of last week. The St. Louis County Courts building will be closed Wednesday and possibly longer after the building lost power on Monday. County officials are optimistic that power will be restored to government buildings sometime Thursday, but the structures will probably not be open for business until Monday.
