Up & Coming Awards 2014

A total of 54 Missouri attorneys will be honored among the 2014 class for Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s annual Up & Coming event.

Missouri Lawyers Weekly editors selected the winners based on their demonstration of excellence and their potential to make a difference in the legal profession and their communities. The awards recognize lawyers who are 40 or younger, or within the first 10 years of practice.

In addition to the general Up & Coming category, a handful of lawyers are recognized in special categories. Those awards include:

Law Firm Leader

Recognizing early-career professionals who hold important leadership positions at their firms. Winners are:

Public Service

Recognizing early-career professionals working in the non-profit sector. Winners are:

  • Casey M. Clark, senior counsel at Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, Jefferson City
  • Grant Doty, staff attorney at American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri, St. Louis
  • Brendon Fox, assistant prosecuting attorney for Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Rolla
  • Andrea Long, managing attorney at Legal Services of Southern Missouri, Springfield
  • Eric Schmitt, partner at Lathrop & Gage, St. Louis, and state senator
  • Christopher Seufert, assistant prosecuting attorney and trial team leader for Platte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Platte City

Pro Bono

Recognizing an extraordinary pro bono project led by an early-career professional. The winner is Jessica Piedra, lead attorney at Immigration Professionals, Kansas City.

Mentor

Given to more experienced legal professionals who have played an important role in the development of those starting out in the profession. The honored mentors are:
