Vogel elected to lead bar in 2011

The Missouri Bar Board of Governors today chose Lynn Ann Vogel by acclamation as bar vice president. In the end she was the only one who ran for vice president, an office that ascends to president two years later.
Vogel, a solo practitioner in St. Louis County, is changing up her law practice to focus on mediation, some trust and estate work and serving as lawyer for a family business.
Meanwhile, the board also had a lengthy discussion about proposed legislation to allow for parenting coordinators in family law cases. But in the end the board tabled the idea until its November meeting to get more information about how they work in other states.
Parenting coordinators help resolve minor disputes between parents such as being late for a weekend visit with the children. This way it doesn’t tie up court resources, but some worried the concept delegates judicial power outside the bench – in some cases to nonlawyers.
