Harness, Dickey & Pierce, an intellectual property law firm that has a law office in Clayton, announced Monday that it opened a new office in Dallas.
Gerald T. Welch, who was a partner in the IP and technology practice at Dentons, will lead the new office. Welch was named the 2015 “Copyright Lawyer of the Year,” in Dallas by The Best Lawyer in America and has also been included every year since 2012 for the practice areas of patent litigation, intellectual property litigation and copyright law, according to the press release.
Four other Dentons attorneys, including partner Darin W. Deaver and Chris K. Miller, Christopher M. Cauble and Thomas E. Schiano, joined Welch at the new office.
The office is the fourth for Harness Dickey, which is headquartered in Troy, Michigan. The firm also has an office in Washington D.C.
“The addition of this new talent combined with the tremendous opportunities in the current Texas legal market complement our existing business perfectly,” Michael Brennan, a managing principal with Harness Dickey, said in a press release. “Our philosophy on expansion is that it must make our firm better, not just bigger, while maintaining our culture. Jerry’s proven leadership skills and experience support this philosophy 100 percent.”
