Husch Blackwell has announced that it is acquiring its first offices in the New England region.
The firm is combining with Summit Health Law Partners, an 11-attorney boutique that focuses on the health care industry. The offices in Boston, Massachusetts, and Providence, Rhode Island, will officially open Sept. 1.
“We are excited to establish a presence in New England,” Husch Blackwell’s Chair Catherine Hanaway said in a July 20 press release. “We are committed to expanding our firm’s reach, both in terms of geography and practice depth, and our new offices make good on that commitment in both respects. The Summit lawyers joining Husch Blackwell are excellent practitioners who value client service and teamwork. I can’t imagine a better group to launch our firm’s New England presence.”
Five of the Summit Health lawyers will join as partners, along with two counsel and four associates.
“Boston is a traditional hub for health care and life sciences innovation, and we look forward to building on the excellent reputation that Summit Health Law has earned in that market,” said Curt Chase, who leads Husch’s health care industry group and is based in Kansas City. “I believe our client service ethic, our deep experience working with health care providers, and our innovative approach to rates and legal project management provide a compelling value proposition for prospective clients in the region.”
With $417 million in revenue in 2020, Husch Blackwell is Missouri’s third-largest law firm by revenue, according to Missouri Lawyers Media’s MOney 2021 publication. It has more than 800 lawyers nationwide. Recent expansions include new offices in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area announced earlier this year, and The Link, an all-virtual office launched last year that now has nearly 100 lawyers across the U.S.
