2023 Unsung Legal Heroes: Sandy Ellis

Having first joined the Missouri legal community 54 years ago, Sandy Ellis still arrives first and leaves last.
She is known for her unsurpassed work ethic and compassion and is highly respected in the legal field; her nominators include three judges.
“I cannot give a higher recommendation for any person, in any category, than I give Sandy Ellis,” said one of them.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
From my mother: Show up on time, work hard, be honest and fair and try to remember and practice the Golden Rule, which will help take care of many other issues.
What led you to choose a career in the legal field?
In 1969, I started working at the Greene County Prosecutors Office. The first day at the office, I met Greene County Prosecutor John C. Crow and Assistant Prosecutor Dee Wampler, two important gentlemen who would become part of my career and part of my life until present day.
