The Supreme Court of Missouri posted an alert on March 18 warning attorneys of a new scam targeting the state’s case websites.

At least one website has been flagged for “spoofing” Case.net in an attempt to scam attorneys, wrote Beth Riggert, the court’s communications counsel. The fraudulent website may expose the public to malware and other viruses.

“Uncovered yesterday afternoon, this fake website – Casenetmo.us – appears to be run by court-related personnel, but it is not,” Riggert wrote. “The public is urged not to use this website, as attempting to do so may produce a message warning a virus has been detected. Appropriate law enforcement authorities have been notified and are investigating.”

The investigation is ongoing and at this time, it is unclear if the website poses any danger. Still, Riggert listed additional websites with some form of “Case.net” in their names – but that are not Case.net. These include:

  • mo-casenet.us
  • casenetmo.net
  • mo-case.net
  • casenetmonet.website3.me
  • www-casenetmo.us

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Missouri’s state courts administrator’s Help Desk toll-free, Riggert said. The desk can be reached at (888) 541-4894 or by e-mail at [email protected].
