21st commission sends governor three names for circuit judge seat

The 21st Judicial Commission announced its three nominees for the governor’s consideration to fill a .

Gov. Mike Kehoe’s candidate will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Joseph L. Green, who is now assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.

The nominees are , and .

Gregory Smith is an attorney at Grant, Miller & Smith. He earned his law degree from Saint Louis University in 2006.

Tom Smith is an assistant prosecuting attorney for the prosecuting attorney’s office. He obtained his law degree from Washington University in 2009.

Thomeczek received his law degree in 2017 from Saint Louis University. He is an associate attorney at UB Greensfelder LLP.

The three candidates were chosen from a field of 10 applicants, per the commission. Gregory Smith received five votes, Tom Smith received four votes and Thomeczek received three votes.
