Bob Thompson co-leads BCLP’s food and agribusiness industry group and is also a member of the firm’s commercial litigation and class and derivative actions client service groups.
Thompson, a former managing partner of the firm’s Kansas City office, practices in the areas of complex commercial business litigation in state and federal courts. He also provides guidance to companies on commercial and transactional matters.
His cases range from litigation over the constitutionality of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Beef Checkoff Program to the University of Missouri’s right to regulate the possession of firearms on campus. Companies he has defended include well-known Kansas City businesses such as Ferrellgas and H&R Block to national banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo.
Thompson is past president of the Missouri Institute for Justice, a past member of The Missouri Bar’s Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee, and previously served on the boards of directors for the American Royal Association and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre.
He earned his law degree in 1989 from the University of Missouri.
