Susan Block is considered a family law expert in Missouri and abroad. The U.S. State Department has previously sent Susan Block to instruct and advise other countries on domestic violence laws and procedures.
Before joining her current firm’s family law practice, she was an associate and later circuit judge in St. Louis County from 1979 to 2004. She spent her final seven years in juvenile court.
She is a founding member of the Washington University Project for Children and Youth. She’s a member of the first board of directors for the National Truancy Prevention Association.
She also served on the juvenile law subcommittee of the Missouri Supreme Court’s Committee on Racial and Ethnic Fairness.
Block has been an adjunct professor of law at several St. Louis-area schools.
When she earned her law degree from Saint Louis University in 1975, few women had entered the legal profession. She had been raising her own family before she attended law school and graduated at age 30.
She is a 2018 recipient of Missouri Lawyers Media’s ICON Awards and was named the Woman of the Year at Missouri Lawyers Media’s Women’s Justice Awards in 2021.
