Criminal Law: Bank Robbery-Sufficiency Of Evidence-Mental Health
Staff Report//October 20, 2023//
Where a defendant challenged convictions that included bank robbery involving assault with a deadly weapon, knowingly using a firearm during a crime of violence and knowingly discharging a rifle during a crime of violence, the evidence was sufficient to support the convictions, and the district court did not err in finding that mental health issues were not sufficient to make the defendant’s custodial statements involuntary and inadmissible.
Judgment is affirmed.
U.S. v. Monteer (MLW No. 80635/Case No. 22-3659 – 7 pages) (U.S. Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit, Loken, J.) Appealed from U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri, Wimes, J. (Brady D. Wimer, Hallsville, MO argued for appellant) (David Wagner, Kansas City, MO argued for appellee).
