Domestic Relations: Child Custody-Sanctions

Staff Report//June 3, 2024//

Listen to this article

Where a mother involved in a dissolution challenged the judgment awarding custody to the father and establishing a parenting plan and child support, the trial court had the statutory authority to adjudicate the child’s custody as well as to appoint a guardian ad litem, and the court did not abuse its discretion in modifying the sanctions order to strike the mother’s paternity pleadings and in denying the continuance request.

Judgment is affirmed.

Kronk v. Awan (MLW No. 81575/Case No. WD86233 – 18 pages) (Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, Pfeiffer, J.) Appealed from circuit court, Clay County, McConkey, J. (Dana M. Outlaw, Blue Springs, for respondent) (Arthur Tejeda, Kansas City, MO for appellant).
